About CSSBA

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) constituent unions
represent more than 23,000 community social services workers in BC.

CSSBA’s constituent unions, in order of relative membership size from largest to smallest, are:

  • B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU)
  • Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)
  • Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU)
  • Health Sciences Association of BC (HSA)
  • Labourers’ International Union of North America Local 1611 (LiUNA)
  • Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC)
  • United Steelworkers (USW)
  • United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1518 (UFCW)
  • BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU)

Employees in the community social services sector work under one of three subsectoral collective agreements: Community Living Services, General Services, and Indigenous Services. These collective agreements are negotiated between CSSBA on behalf of employees and the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) on behalf of its approximately 200 member employers.
